Downtime
doun tahym
noun
Definition
Downtime is the quantifiable amount of time that a system is unavailable or closed down. Planned and non-routine Outages incur Downtime. Maintenance technicians will frequently use Video Borescopes, Videoscopes, and other Inspection Cameras to inspect and document the condition of internal parts of a machine. This allows them to better estimate when an internal part may fail. Knowing when internal components of industrial machinery may falter means that these maintenance technicians can plan Outages and make sure that Downtime is kept to an absolute minimum.
