Snake Scope

noun
Definition
Snake Scopes are the most widely-available class of Inspection Cameras on the market. These low-end scopes can cost anywhere from a few dollars to a couple hundred of dollars. Snake scopes are used around homes or auto shops, providing a quick look at the problem at hand. The downside to Snake Scopes is their lack of features. Insertion Tubes are often too large to get into industrial machinery. Lengths can be too short to effectively inspect internal components. Video and image capture is cheap and unreliable (if present at all). Articulation is non-existent. Usually reserved for DIY’ers, Snake Scopes have no place in professional industrial inspections.
